We understand that navigating the regulations of medical cannabis can be confusing, and at Dockside we’re here to help! Here are some answers to common questions we hear from patients, as well as resources for further research and information.

How do I get a medical cannabis card in Washington?

To get a medical cannabis recognition card, you first need a medical cannabis authorization form issued by an in-state doctor or naturopath. Once you have the authorization form, any cannabis store that is medically-endorsed by Washington’s Department of Health can issue a medical card.

Do I need to make an appointment?

Medical cards may only be issued by DOH certified Medical Cannabis Consultants. To ensure we have a medical consultant available to help you, we highly recommend scheduling an appointment in advance. You may do so my calling: 1-844-362-5420.

What do I need to bring with me to the dispensary to get my card?

• Your authorization form (only this type of form, printed on tamper-proof paper, issued by a doctor in WA state, is accepted)
• A valid form of ID.

We will enter you into Washington States’ Medical Cannabis Patient Database and print a recognition card for you — this card is what enables you to access tax breaks and discounts. This process usually takes 15-30 minutes and includes a one-on-one conversation with one of our certified medical consultants.

What benefits do I get from having a medical cannabis card?

• Sales tax removal from cannabis purchases
• Excise tax removal on DOH-certified products beginning June 6, 2024. You can learn more about the upcoming changes here.
• Access to higher legal purchase limits (3x recreational limits)
• The ability to grow cannabis plants for personal medicinal use in your home

Does Dockside offer any other incentives for medical patients?

• A 10% discount to all medical patients (in addition to the removal of state sales tax)
• 1-on-1 appointments with our DOH Certified Medical Cannabis Consultants are available

Do you accept medical cards/authorizations from other states?

Legally, we are only allowed to accept medical authorizations and cards from Washington. However, everyone 21+ with a valid ID is welcome to shop recreationally at any of our stores.
